If your vehicle has any of the below safety features, your vehicle will need a recalibration after any windshield replacement.
- Front Collision Alert
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Automatic Headlight Control
- Parking Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
- Blind spot Monitoring
ADAS systems use cameras and sensors mounted in car windows to monitor the environment around the vehicle. Without proper calibration, these systems may not be able to accurately detect other vehicles, pedestrians, and other objects. Additionally, some critical features like automatic breaking may malfunction and can cause issues for you and your vehicle if not properly calibrated. That is why it is important to have your recalibration performed by an experienced professional.

Frequently Asked Questions about Windshield Replacements
What types of windshield recalibrations are there?
When it comes to your vehicle’s calibration, there are two common types of recalibrations. The first type are called Static Recalibrations, which are typically performed at a shop within a controlled environment. This is due to sensitivity of your sensors, and the requirement for consistent lighting conditions to ensure that your vehicle is properly calibrated, and your ADAS sensors are squared away.
The second type of recalibration is called Dynamic Recalibration. Typically, a dynamic calibration is performed after a static recalibration to ensure that your vehicle’s systems properly reset, and to test that your safety features are functioning. Often times, this includes your vehicle reaching a speed of at least 40 MPH to test speed limit detection, lane correction, and more.
Do I need a recalibration even if I don’t replace my windshield?
Depending on the extent of your vehicles safety features, something as small as a fender bender can cause malfunctions or problems for your ADAS systems. If you notice a feature isn’t working (for example a blind spot detector), it is important that you have it diagnosed and recalibrated.
How long does an ADAS Recalibration take?
Most recalibrations take 1 hour to complete. During this time, our technicians run initial diagnostics, configure your sensors, and run additional diagnostics to confirm that your sensors are working properly. After this, our team will ensure that your vehicle reaches the required speed to test your safety features such as early lane departure warnings.
What is the difference between an in-house calibration, and a mobile calibration?
When performing ADAS windshield recalibrations, there are many factors to consider. American Warrior Auto Glass only performs in-house recalibrations because lighting conditions, and several other factors can have a negative impact on your vehicles recalibration. Because we perform our calibrations in our shop, with consistent lighting variables, you can rest assured that your calibration is performed correctly.
